Jersey goes open and its go time. 3 33mile laps was perfect even if my gear choice was not. I mistakenly rode only the first 5 miles of the course, which was the hardest and hilliest of the race, after that it just flattened out, but I had a nice gear to spin the rest of the day and become one with the woods. This 100 mile stuff is tough because I still haven't wrapped my head around the fact that by the time I am warmed up its over. Most of my racing the last few years has been 12 hour events so by the time I hit 5-6 hours I am almost done. I looked at my times and this was confirmed with a 1:40 first 1:45 second and 1:39 last lap. Kids at 66 miles I took off, but game over at the end. I finished 11th well outside of my goal of top 5, which after Cohutta was completely doable. I ran a 32-18 and was spun out on this course so if its the same next year I will be putting in a 16 or 17 for sure.Monday, June 28, 2010
