I was reminded last weekend that the sport of cycling is essentially not a poor mans sport, at least if you want to have a shot at it. While jumping a very low barrier I bashed my carbon wheel nicely into the barrier, yes of course this resulted in a lot of cheering from the crowd, however I will be $450 poorer for the effort. They say if you can't do the time don't do the crime and I guess the true-ism is applicable to racing if you can't afford to lose the money don't double down. Everyone keeps telling me to buy some aluminum rims, but after years of running those things fuck that, go light or go home, hey somebodies got to help the carbon fiber industry and with my track record I think I'm the man for the job.
